Hello Ether, no, not Esther - 'ether' as in 'lost in the...'

I digress. Writing a book isn't difficult!!!! Writing a good book isn't difficult - if you are gifted!!!
It's what comes after writing that good book that is the really difficult part - the editing. What do I cut out and what do I leave in??? Whaaa.
Then, there is the marketing and the 'talks' and the book launches, signings - Oh come on...

Given the chance I will do it with a air of quiet - well, maybe not quiet - determination. Until then I'll chop and shape - a bit like hairdressing really. I will take waist-length pile of waffle then cut and style it to a fabulous, must-have creation that everybody wants.

Ooo, I can dream can't I? I'm working hard, killing my darlings, on the latest w.i.p and slicing swathes of story to the ether - there, I knew I'd get that word in somewhere...

A lot of my RNA friends have gone off to the annual conferance and I'm soooo envious. I couldn't make it this year because my son had a major operation and had to sacrifice Penrith - I love that beautiful place. I went there three years ago to the conf and thoroughly enjoyed it.

However, I did take time out to go to the book launch of 'Tilly's Story' written by my good friend June Francis and while I was there bought a copy and also one of her other novels 'A Dream to Share,' - a heartwarming novel from one of our best saga writers. All in all, it was a hugely enjoyable afternoon and I wish her every success.

Well, I must get stuck into my own opus magnum (isn't that an ice-cream?) or I'll never get to best-sellerdom. Be good.
Speak soon Sheila
